PLANT EARTH: HOW MAN HAS TEMPERED WITH NATURE AND SOLUTIONS TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINABILITY

By Zainab Ruba

Planet Earth is the third planet from the sun and the only astronomical object known to habor life.
The most important advantages of earth to man is that it has liquid water and plate tectonics but it's most special feature might just be us (man) but yet man tempers with nature.
Man has tempered with nature in so many ways and has destroyed a tenth of the earth's wilderness in 25yrs and there may be none left  within a century if trends continue, according to an authorative new study .And also the changes to biophysical environments and ecosystems , biodiversity and natural resources caused directly or indirectly by humans, including global warming caused by increased Concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere mainly from human activities such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation and farming. Environmental degradation caused by overpopulation, deforestation , lack of education and so on. Mass extinction is mostly caused by climate change , asteroid impacts and massive volcanic eruption. Biodiversity Loss is caused by deforestation , overpopulation and pollution. Depletion of the ozone layer due to the production of halons , methyl bromide and so on.
Although, Sustainability is not a choice but a necessity, but Sustainability and consciousness about the environment among the general Population has increased and the idea has become global today especially in terms of recycle. Recycling is one of the best things you can do to promote Sustainability, by recycling your old household trash you instantly get a cleaner house and some extra cash.
Another notable solution is growing your own garden, the food you purchase from the Market goes through a process where food is grown, transported and stored before it can reach the shelves of supermarket. The food that reaches the shelves of a grocery store is not always grown through sustainable methods. You can help reduce your carbon footprint and reduce negative environment impacts by growing your own food in your backyard.
Furthermore, Minimize waste , efficient waste management is an important factor in achieving Sustainability.
Planting more trees and plants has many environmental , economic and social benefits. Trees also combat the greenhouse effect, reduce the pressure on heating and cooling, and therefore saves energy. Trees also save us from climatic changes, natural disasters and catastrophes.
Lastly, support organized dedicated to Sustainability, find Non profit organizations in your area that promote Sustainability and join those groups and help them promote Sustainability.
